Created for my Visual Communications class, this poster assignment challenged me to portray a band through visual metaphors. I chose to represent Mazzy Star, an alternative rock band known for their melancholic melodies and soft, shoegaze-like feel. Drawing inspiration from their album covers and aesthetic, I incorporated deep purples and grunge textures, sprinkling in astrological symbols as a subtle hint to their name. The result is a poster made entirely in Adobe Photoshop that visually represents the feelings evoked through their music - somber and calm, yet full of complexity.
